A new flagship model as well as technology updates across the range are on the way for Mazda’s CX-3 compact.
The announcement of a summer refresh comes two years after Mazda first launched the popular compact SUV.
The updated CX-3 will benefit from technology upgrades to both the i-ACTIVSENSE safety system and the SKYACTIV-D diesel engine, as well as the introduction of G-Vectoring Control, revised suspension, extra sound insulation, and new steering wheel. The 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-D unit gains Transient Control for improved throttle response and Natural Sound Smoother damper system. On SE-L Nav trim and above, the CX-3’s Smart City Brake Support now has pedestrian detection, while Sport Nav gains a heated steering wheel and colour head-up display. All models across the range will now come with heated electrically-folding door mirrors, while those with the option stone leather/black LUX SUEDE seats will benefit from the addition of power adjustment and memory function.
However, the most eye-catching addition is the introduction of the special edition GT Sport model. Just 500 examples of the range-topping model will be produced, priced from £22,895. Powered by the 118bhp 2.0-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine, the GT Sport is based on the Sport Nav trim, but adds an aero kit including front, side and rear skirts with silver inserts, black rear roof spoiler, plus 18-inch silver alloy wheels. Inside is a Nappa leather trim, and GT-Line floor mats. The GT Sport comes with a choice of Ceramic Metallic or Meteor Grey Mica paint finish.
