Tuning company BBR has unveiled its new 268bhp Mazda MX-5, the most powerful MX-5 on sale today.
The new MX-5 GT270 is capable of getting from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 150mph, making it significantly faster than the fastest stock MX-5, which takes 7.6 seconds to get from 0-62mph and tops out at 132mph.
BBR has managed to extract these performance figures from the MX-5's 2.0-litre engine by fitting a new turbocharger which increases power by 110bhp over the standard car, along with a range of electronic upgrades and chassis enhancements and a new manifold and intercooler.
The MX-5 GT270 also gets a remapped ECU which offers four modes: one for everyday use, one for circuit driving, one for fuel economy on motorway journeys and one which limits the engine to 3500rpm in all gears, preventing unwanted third-party abuse. BBR calls this final mode Valet mode.
Visually, the only indications that the GT270 is something other than a standard MX-5 are BBR turbo badging and a model number plaque. Just 100 examples of the car will be sold in the UK.
The Mazda MX-5 GT270 is available to order now, priced at £29,995.
