A motorist who has been driving without a licence for the past 40 years is facing prosecution after being caught by the police in Birmingham.
The man was pulled over in the Nechells area of the city at 09.45 on Thursday morning, according to a police spokesman. The unlicensed driver was also found to have no insurance and his car has been seized and impounded.
"He has committed a criminal offence, and the matter will proceed to the courts," said a spokesman for West Midlands Police.
"We don't know whether the driver had even passed his test."
The penalties for driving without a licence include a fine of £1,000, a driving ban and a ban on being able to obtain a licence for a period of time.
