Toyota’s more upmarket Lexus brand is breaking new ground at the Detroit Motor Show this year by unveiling a hybrid coupe concept car.
This year's Detroit Motor show features a new concept car from Lexus, the LF-LC Hybrid Coupe. General Manager of the Lexus Division of Toyota Mark Templin says that the LF-LC Hybrid Coupe will take Lexus into a new third phase of its evolution. Pointing out that the first ever Lexus car was also revealed to the world for the first time at a Detroit Motor Show over two decades ago in 1989, Templin says that the firm could not have chosen a more appropriate location for this latest unveiling.
The LF-LC was designed in California, and offers a preview of the kind of design language that will be seen in future production releases from Lexus. It features a highly sculpted look with a glass-to-glass roof line. Templin says that it is "all about creating cars that are emotional and inspirational," and promises that there will be a range of new models from Lexus over the coming years which take design inspiration from the LF-LC.
Lexus is just about to enter a substantial new product initiative, with 9 new or updated models due to be released this year, with refreshed looks, more advanced technology, and improved fuel economy. The first of these 9 new cars will be the new Lexus G3.
