The latest batch of results from the crash test boffins at Euro NCAP has been released, with four vehicles achieving the overall five star rating.

The cars tested were the Jeep Cherokee, the Mercedes CLA, the Suzuki SX4 and the Peugeot 2008. Both the Suzuki and the Jeep scored 92 per cent for adult occupant protection, with the Mercedes close behind on 91 per cent and the Peugeot scoring 88 per cent.

Of the 22 cars tested by Euro NCAP this year, 17 cars have scored the full five stars, three cars have scored four stars and two cars just three stars. Cars which missed out on the top rating, earning four stars include the Dacia Sandero, the Vauxhall Adam and the Mitsubishi Mirage. The Nissan Evalia and the Mercedes CITAN Kombi both scored three stars.
