Land Rover is to celebrate its 70th anniversary this year by reintroducing the iconic Defender for a limited run of 150 examples.
A limited-edition high-performance version will be powered by a 5.0-litre V8, and will be the fastest and most powerful production Defender ever. The 400bhp Defender Works V8 will do 0-60mph in 5.6sec, with a top speed of 106mph.
The 150 specially-selected and re-engineered Defenders will also be fitted with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with sport mode, uprated brakes, springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, plus exclusive 18-inch diamond-turned Sawtooth alloy wheels and 265/65 R18 all-terrain tyres.
Eight colour options are available along with a contrasting Santorini Black roof, wheel arches and front grille and finished with machined aluminium door handles, fuel filler cap and Defender bonnet lettering. New lighting specification includes bi-LED headlamps. Inside will be a full Windsor Leather trimmed dashboard, door panels, headlining and Recaro sports seats, while Land Rover Classic’s own Classic Infotainment System is also included.
Both 90 and 110 wheelbase models will be available, with the former starting at £150,000 direct from Land Rover Classic.
