Lamborghini has concluded its 50th anniversary celebrations with the launch of a new concept car, the Lamborghini Egoista.
The Egoista was unveiled by Lambo boss Stephen Winkelmann following a grand tour of 350 Lamborghinis from Milan to Lamborghini's headquarters in Sant'Agata Bolognese.
Lamborghini has produced just one Egoista as a gift to itself and, perhaps fittingly, the name of the car translates into English as 'selfish'.
There's evidence of selfishness inside the car's carbon-fibre cockpit, where you'll find just one seat. This means that only one person at a time will be able to experience the brute force of the car's 600bhp 5.2-litre V10 engine.
"This is a car made for one person only, to allow them to have fun and express their personality to the maximum," explained the Egoista's designer, Walter De Silva.
"It is designed purely for hyper-sophisticated people who want only the most extreme and special things in the world. It represents hedonism taken to the extreme, it is a car without compromises."
Lamborghini claims that the inspiration for the Egoista was taken from the Apache helicopter, with the car featuring a fully removable cockpit which takes its cue from the chopper's cockpit, which can, of course, be ejected in an emergency.
It isn't made clear in the press release whether the Egoista's cockpit can be ejected on the move. On balance it seems unlikely, but given that this is Lamborghini we're talking about, anything is possible.
Unfortunately, however, it's unlikely that anyone will ever find out. Lamborghini, in keeping with the car's theme of selfishness, has announced that no-one will ever own the Egoista.
