Set to be unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show soon, South Korean car maker Kia has launched its latest concept car on the world.

The new Track’ster concept car has been created by the California Design Studio and is based on the brand’s successful ‘urban crossover,’ the Soul, which has been popular in the US: more than 102,000 were delivered to owners in 2011.

With an exciting design, which borders on the aggressive, the new Kia car highlights the direction that the car maker is hoping to take. The Track’ster is, as Kia claim, intended to be ‘the ultimate sporting representation of Kia’s Soul B- segment SUV.’

The Track’ster concept car has a 247bhp petrol engine and while there are no plans for the car to be mass produced or to go on sale in either the US, Europe or elsewhere, given the success of the Soul in the States and the fact that Kia are showcasing the car at a major motoring show, could mean that a launch of the Track’ster could be on the horizon, in the US at least.

Concept cars are a great opportunity for manufacturers to show-off their latest research and development in ‘experimental’ models. What first starts as a concept car, in today’s modern motoring industry, quickly becomes a full vehicle model.

Other popular car manufacturers that are looking to launch and display concept cars at the event include: the Honda Accord Coupe concept; the Acura RDX Concept; the Lexus LF-LC concept; the Nissan Pathfinder concept; the Chevrolet CODE130R concept; the Toyota NS4 concept; the Chevrolet TRU140S concept and the Volvo You Concept.

First staged in 1901, the Chicago Auto Show, which is running from Friday 10 February to Sunday 19 February, is the largest motoring show in the US. Now in its 104th year, the show offers a unique insight into the state of the US motor industry, and is a great barometer for motor enthusiasts keen to compare the US against the UK motor industry as a whole.
