The all-new Kia e-Niro will be capable of over 300 miles on a single charge, final tests have revealed.
The e-Niro is Kia’s first fully-electric crossover utility vehicle, and will go on sale later this year. In preparation for the e-Niro’s European sales launch, the WLTP combined cycle test confirmed that the high-capacity 64 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery gives the model a range of 301 miles, or 382 miles on the ‘urban’ test cycle. It takes just 54 minutes to charge the battery to 80% using a 100 kW fast charger. The e-Niro’s standard 39.2 kWh power pack was found to offer up to 193 miles of zero-emissions motoring when fully charged.
When it goes on sale, the e-Niro will join the Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid versions of the model which have sold over 200,000 units worldwide over the past two years, with more than 65,000 of those sales coming in Europe.
The e-Niro brings with it a range of battery efficiency-enhancing technology, including regenerative braking, Coasting Guide Control, and Predictive Energy Control. The technologies enable drivers to recharge the battery pack and maximise vehicle range when coasting or braking.
The e-Niro will carry Kia’s renowned 7-Year, 100,000-miles warranty as standard, which will also cover the battery pack and electric motor.
Full UK specification, pricing and sales launch date from the e-Niro will be confirmed at a later date.
