The Suzuki Jimny has emerged from Euro NCAP crash testing with a disappointing three stars out of five.

Suzuki’s new off-road supermini underwhelmed in both impact and crash avoidance tests, with the report in particular pointing at underperformance from the model’s pedestrian avoidance technology.

However, it was better news for the new VW Touareg and Audi A6, who emerged with top marks from the same round of Euro NCAP tests. In stark contrast to the Suzuki, both models impressed the testers in the new AEB cyclist test introduced by Euro NCAP at the start of this year to measure how successfully the technology on new vehicles are able to avoid or mitigate collisions with cyclists. The strong showing by the Touareg and A6 in the AEB cyclist test contributed to an overall five-star rating for both models.
