The Jensen name could soon return to the UK roads after plans were announced this week to revive the brand with a new model called the Jensen GT.
The GT will be the first officially sanctioned Jensen model since the collapse of the manufacturer thirteen years ago. The Jensen GT will be a limited edition model built in partnership between the reborn Jensen Group and Jensen International Automotive (JIA), the latter famous for their modified Interceptor R models.
Available exclusively through JIA, the GT is planned as a stopgap model until the Jensen Group introduces the all-new Interceptor 2, which is due to be revealed next year. The Interceptor 2 will take design cues from the original model which bore the Jensen name until 1976, but will be a contemporary, state-of-the-art design.
Tim Hearley, the executive chairman of the Jensen Group and the man responsible for resurrecting the marque, said: “This represents the next chapter of Jensen and, as we look to the future, we want Jensen enthusiasts to help us celebrate as we unveil a completely new car and outline our plans for the future.”
No further details of specification, pricing, or launch date for the Jensen GT are available at present.
