The Renegade will be Jeep’s first foray into the small SUV segment and first Jeep to be built in Europe.
Further firsts will come in the form of a rear axle disconnect, a nine seed transmission, a seven inch colour display and a MySky sun roof. Jeep is looking to sell the new model across 100 worldwide markets after building it in Italy.
The design brief, Jeep say, was to produce a vehicle which paid homage to traditional American culture whilst appealing to a new youthful market which demands a rugged, energetic look. Some remnants of old Jeep style remain with the classic round headlights, a seven slot grille and trapezoidal wheel arches.
On board equipment has seen improvements in an attempt to boost comfort and provide modern infotainment. Safety features will include Forward Collision Warning, Parking Assistance and Lane Departure Warning; reassuring for family buyers looking for confidence to travel with the kids.
Not forgetting their off-road heritage, Jeep have incorporated a rear axle disconnect which they say seamlessly swaps between two and four wheel drive and ground clearance will be up to 210mm.
Four trim levels will be available: Sport, Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk.
