A prototype of the new Jaguar F-Type is to make its world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The car, which is set to go on sale in mid-2013, will be driven up the Goodwood Hill at the world-famous festival next weekend.

The F-Type is still under development and will be available with a choice of a supercharged V6 or V8 engines. It promises to be extremely light as the body and chassis will be built entirely out of aluminium.

The Jag will be launched as a two-seater convertible and is designed to fit into the model range below the XK. However, it won't be cheap -- expect prices to start from around the £55,000 mark.

Nevertheless, you'd have to admit that the baby Jag looks absolutely sensational, despite the best efforts of the manufacturer to disguise the bodywork under camouflage paint.
