Ssangyong’s updated Rexton sport SUV, with a new Euro 6 compliant engine amongst the improvements to the range, has been made available for UK order.
The new e-XDi220 diesel engine sees performance improve despite a fall in CO2 emissions compared the outgoing Euro 5 power plant. Emissions fall by 12g/km to a new figure of 184g/km, while fuel economy rises to 40mpg. The new engine can be chosen with either a 6-speed manual transmission, or with the Mercedes-Benz 7-speed automatic gearbox.
The flagship Rexton’s steel ladder chassis and extra-strong frame construction give it a 3-tonne towing capacity as well as accomplished off-road credentials. It features double wishbone and coil spring suspension to the front, and a five link rigid axle with coil springs at the rear, while the EX automatic and ELX models feature multi-link rear suspension for an even more comfortable ride.
The Rexton is available in both five and seven-seat versions, with prices starting from £22,995 for the 2.2SE model. Topping the range is the £28,995 2.2 ELX automatic, which boasts beige/grey leather interior, new multi-function leather covered steering wheel, distinctive 18-inch Diamond cut alloys, LED daytime running lights, front and rear parking sensors, auto-dipping rear view mirror, heated rear seats and SatNav. All models come with Ssangyong’s 5-year limitless mileage warranty.
