Hyundai has revealed its new multi-purpose vehicle concept, the ‘Hexa Space’, at the Auto Expo show in India.
Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled its latest concept car at the Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi. The Hexa Space multi-purpose vehicle has been developed to explore new ways to use interior space. It features eight slim-line hexagonal seats. These seats fit together like jigsaw puzzle pieces, maximising the amount of space that is left available. The seats have multiple configuration settings, including the ability to fold the middle seats flat for greater shoulder room, and to fold the second row down to create a 'limousine' function. The centre seats are set back slightly to give extra space as well.
The Hexa Space is aimed at young families living in the city, and places a big emphasis on practicality. The priority in its design is to allow for a good amount of space inside, whilst also keeping the car slim enough to be practical for driving around the city and getting into tight spaces. In line with this, the overall width of the Hex Space is only slightly wider than Hyundai's compact ix20.
Because the Hexa Space is targeted at younger families there is also a wide array of high tech features, including a touch-screen centre console, push-button shifter, and a cluster ionizer air purifier. It is powered by Hyundai's Kappa 1.2-litre turbo GDI engine, and has a six-speed automatic transmission.
