Honda has today unveiled the UNI-CUB, a personal mobility device which the Japanese firm claims is "designed for use by individuals and within public spaces."

The real news is that the UNI-CUB features Honda Omni Traction Drive System, the world's first omni-directional driving wheel system, which Honda claims allows UNI-CUB users to experience the same freedom of movement that they would if they were walking.

The rider controls the speed and direction of the UNI-CUB by shifting their weight, allowing them to easily manoeuvre between other people. The UNI-CUB has a 3.7mph top speed and a range of 3.7-miles.

We're not totally sold on the UNI-CUB. For one, you have to be between 5'0'' and 6'2'' to ride it, it only works indoors (so is only of any use if you live or work in a massive building) and, like a Dalek, it can't climb stairs.

So, if you can't be bothered to walk, live in a massive bungalow and never go outdoors, the UNI-CUB could be your ideal personal mobility solution.
