Honda have announced a programme of updates to the HR-V for 2019, to include an exterior and interior refresh as well as new technology.
Out goes the black-and-chrome feature above the front grille, in comes a new high-gloss dark chrome panel, while the front bumper will now have deeper air intakes with circular fog lights. The headlights have gained projector lenses with new LED daytime running lights. Dark chrome accents also garnish the rear tailgate, with matching darker lens casings on the light clusters. Top spec models have a new 17-inch alloy design, chrome exhaust finisher, full LED lights front and rear, and smoked-effect rear light casings. A new colour, Midnight Blue Beam Metallic, has been added to the eight-strong choice of exterior finishes.
On the inside, the Honda Magic Seat system now includes redesigned cushions for the driver and rear passenger that gives better support, with higher-quality material and full leather on top grade models. It’s going to be quieter on the inside too, as Honda have added more insulation around the front bulkhead, wheel arches, boot structure, and both front and rear door panels to reduce noise. Higher spec models will also include Active Noise Cancellation, which reduces low-frequency noise in the interior using reverse phase audio signals through the speakers.
The HR-V’s 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine gives a 0-62mph time of 10.2 seconds in six-speed manual configuration or 10.9 seconds when paired with the optional CVT automatic transmission. Average fuel economy is 53.2 mpg, with average CO2 emissions of 121 g/km. The engine components have been given a new friction-reducing coating to improve wear and efficiency.
Production of the updated Honrda HR-V is already underway, with deliveries expected to begin in October.
