If there's one thing we love at Chez CarSite, it's a good ol' fashioned tale of council stupidity, and they really don't come much more stupid than this.
Last year, South Gloucestershire Council spent £1.3million on a new car park at Stoke Gifford, just outside Bristol; however, since then, an average of just ten cars per day have used the facility.
The reason for this is simple. The facility, intended as a park-and-ride, will not get a bus service until 2015. So what South Gloucestershire Council has done, cunningly, is build a car park in the middle of nowhere.
This is bad news for the people of South Gloucestershire, as the car park has raised only £13,899 in revenue over the last year, having cost 100 times that sum to build.
The council, which is currently run by a Conservative minority, came under fire from Liberal Democrat councillor Pat Hockey who claimed that the car park had made the council "look stupid".
On the plus side, if you're in the Bristol area and you're having trouble finding a parking space, we think we might have a solution.
