Ford have sold over 100,000 vehicles in the UK since the introduction of the 64-plate registration on 1st September, the latest official figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have revealed.

With 101,037 64-plate registrations, the UK’s market-leading manufacturer has enjoyed its most successful two-month sales period for six-and-a-half years. The SMMT figures showed that Ford has now sold 286,975 new cars in the UK this year, of which 116,087 were Ford Fiestas. Ford’s success has been aided by strong commercial vehicles sales, which were up by more than a quarter for last month compared to October 2013.

Mark Ovenden, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director, said: "In a buoyant UK market, Ford beat the total vehicle sales growth in October, to maintain our strong sales momentum. Fiesta and Focus continue to lead the UK market while the success of our extended Ford CV family can be measured by the fact that total Transit nameplate sales exceed those of any car – apart from Fiesta and Focus. These sales results are founded on a continuous stream of new models and innovative technology delivered through our dealer partners, who make up the strongest network in the UK.”
