Ford have announced the introduction of their most powerful production Fiesta ever.

Priced from £22,745, the Ford Fiesta ST200 is available to order now, and with a specially-calibrated 197bhp 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine it packs more of a punch than any production model in the Fiesta’s four decade history. Put into context, that is twice the power output of the iconic Fiesta XR2 from 20 years ago.

Acceleration is impressive too, with the Fiesta ST200 sprinting from 0-62mph in 6.2 seconds - aided by shortened gear ratios – to a top speed of 143mph. Electronic Power Assisted Steering, stiffened anti-roll bars, revised dampers, and 15mm lowered suspension ensures the ride quality and handling keep pace with the prodigious power. Enhanced Torque Vectoring Control applied braking to the inside front wheel while cornering to boost road holding and reduce understeer, while the Electronic Stability Control has 3-modes and can be fully de-activated. The braking system has also been upgraded with larger discs and tandem master cylinder.

The Fiesta ST200 offers a combined 46.3mpg, helped by its improved power-to-weight ratio, while CO2 emissions are 140g/km.

The Fiesta ST200 is distinguished by its unique Storm Grey exterior, machined matt black 17-inch ST alloy wheels with polished rims, red painted callipers, ST-specification large trapezoidal grille with honeycomb construction, dynamic front spoiler and side-skirts, body-colour rear diffuser element, large rear roof spoiler, part-leather Charcoal Recaro front seats with contrasting silver stitching, illuminated ST200-branded scuff plates, carbon fibre dashboard inserts, alloy-metal pedals and gearshifter, and an ST-specification steering wheel. Technology includes LED day-time running lights, a sound symposer that channels the engine note to the cabin, and the MyKey system that allows owners to set maximum speed and audio volume limits.

Production of the Ford Fiesta ST200 starts this month, with deliveries to commence later in the summer.
