Ford has unveiled a number of improvements to its five-seat Tourneo Connect and seven-seat Grand Tourneo Connect models.
Topping that list is a new 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine with auto Stop/Start, which boasts a fuel economy some seven per cent better than the 1.6-litre TDCi it replaces in the range. Meeting the latest Euro 6 emissions standards, the new engine offers a combined 65.7mphg, with CO2 emissions as low as 111g/km. Titanium spec diesel models also gain the option of Ford’s PowerShift automatic gearbox for the first time.
Other changes to the Tourneo Connect and Grand Tourneo Connect include improved equipment levels, including Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Keeping Aid, programmable MyKey technology, and the voice-activated SYNC 2 connectivity system. MyKey allows the key to be programmed to, for example, restrict the top speed or maximum audio system volume, while SYNC 2 includes a hi-res 6-inch colour touch screen that enables voice-activated audio, navigation, climate control, mobile telephones, and other features.
Introduced in late 2013, the Tourneo Connect and Grand Tourneo Connect have seen sales figures steadily grow thanks to the versatility offered by their flexible seating, stowage, and twin sliding doors.
