The first images of the all-new Kia Sportage, which debuts at next month’s Frankfurt International Motor Show, have been released by the manufacturer.
The styling for the fourth-generation Sportage is claimed by the manufacturer to echo ‘the contrast of smooth and sharp shapes found on some of the most iconic modern fighter jets’. Most noticeable is the new look to the front end, where the headlamps are no longer integrated with the grille but sweep back along the outer edges of the bonnet and wheel arches. Kia’s trademark ‘tiger-nose’ grille is lower and wider than on the current Sportage, while viewed from the side there is clearly sportier, more raked profile and tapered roof line, with increased rear overhang and increased front overhang. To the rear are slim combination lamps with joining strip, separated indicators and reversing lights, all inspired by the 2013 Kia Provo concept car.
When the model is unveiled at the Frankfurt International Motor Show on 15 September it will be in familiar surroundings – the new Sportage was designed in the main at Kia’s European Design Studio in the city.
