Peugeot have launched a new high-performance division called PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED, and they have wasted no time in spicing up the new 508.

The new Peugeot 508 PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED has four-wheel drive and plug-in hybrid electric technology, and is available in Fastback and SW estate body styles.

Peugeot engineers have harnessed the expertise garnered from motorsports such as the World Rally Championship, DAKAR, Pikes Peak and World Endurance Championship. The resulting 360bhp powertrain combines an internal combustion engine and electrical energy to givethe 508 PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED a 0-62mph time of just 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 155mph. Features include optimised variable three-mode shock absorption, lowered driving position, widened front and rear track, 380mm diameter front brake discs and fixed four-piston callipers, and 20-inch alloy wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.

There are five driving modes – Electric, which offers a zero-emissions range of 26 miles; Comfort, which has a softened suspension setting for high comfort driving; Hybrid, which automatically selects combustion or electric power depending on the circumstances for optimised fuel efficiency; Sport, which delivers the maximum power of 360bhp for ultimate performance, and also tunes the steering, suspension and accelerator pedal mapping; 4WD, which provides maximum traction for slippery conditions.

The hybrid motor charges in under seven hours using a standard domestic socket, and under two hours using a 7kW wall box charge point. The layout of the electric motors and battery does not result in any reduction to the interior and boot volumes. The hybrid system results in average CO2 emissions of 46g/km and the equivalent of 139mpg fuel consumption.

Driver aids include Night Vision, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Lane Departure Warning System and Automatic Emergency Braking. Also included is PEUGEOT i-Cockpit with compact steering wheel, a 100% digital Head-Up Display, graphic animations and central 10-inch HD capacitive touchscreen. Mistral Nappa Leather and Alcantara seats and FOCAL Hi-Fi audio system is supplied as standard, as are heat and massage functions on the driver’s seat.

The 508 PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED is available in three body colours - Selenium Grey, Nera Black and Pearl White.
