Hyundai has given the public a first glimpse of its new concept car, called the i-oniq.

A new concept car has been designed and developed at Hyundai's European Research and Development Centre in Germany. The new car, which is called the i-oniq, has been created to showcase future developments of the firm's design language, which they call 'fluidic sculpture'.

The full details of this new design will not be known until the car gets its official world debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, but a teaser preview has already been released by the company. The concept car gives free reign to designers to show their vision for the future of automotive design without the commercial constraints which are usually placed on them. Key elements of the design they create, however, are likely to make it into production models in some form in the future.

The European Chief Designer for Hyundai, Mr Thomas Bürkle, described the new i-oniq concept car saying:

"Two strong arched curves define the silhouette of i-oniq, creating a playful contrast between the sharp character lines and soft but muscular features."
