Maserati have unveiled a new Ghibli Hybrid, the first electrified model produced by the brand.
The mild hybrid system stores kinetic energy generated under braking, and combines a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine, 48-volt alternator, and electronic supercharger, to produce 330bhp. The Ghibli Hybrid is capable of 0-62mph in just 5.7 seconds. A rear mounted battery helps evenly distribute weight, which has been reduced by 80kg over the standard diesel model.
Maserati plan to eventually electrify all new models, with the all-electric GranTurismo and GranCabrio to follow next year.
The Ghibli Hybrid also boasts the new Maserati Connect system which constantly monitors the car’s connectivity and checks for software updates automatically. A 10.1-inch multimedia screen is based on Android Automotive and is fully customisable to the driver’s personal preferences.
A special blue exterior paint finish distinguishes the hybrid, a colour scheme which extends to the side air ducts and brake calipers. A new front grille and restyled rear light clusters complete the Hybrid treatment.
