Disappointing news from the killjoys at the DVLA.
250 registrations which the government department deems 'offensive' (but which we, incidentally, deem 'hilarious') have been banned.
Sadly, this means that you'll be unable to buy plates such as 'DR12 UGS', 'DD12 UNK', 'LE61 ESS', 'BU62 GER' and the brilliant 'PA12 EDO', for fear that some roadsters may find them offensive.
Other blacklisted reg-plates include '2HAG', '2LUT' and any plate ending with the three-letter code 'BUM'.
A DVLA spokesperson explained the decision, saying: "We have a responsibility to ensure that the combinations used do not cause offence."
However, all is not lost. There are a number of rude registrations which have clearly slipped through the DVLA's net, and which you can buy and fix to your car.
'PEN 7S' will set you back £21,000 (money well spent in our opinion), 'ORG 53M' is yours for £2,000, while our personal favourite, 'BRE 45T', can be bought for £12,500.
