Citroen has unveiled its new C-XR concept at the Beijing Motor Show.
Described by Citroen as a "contemporary take on the SUV," the concept previews the first production SUV to be developed jointly between Citroen and its Chinese partner, the DongFeng Motor Group.
The C-XR features chunky SUV styling which includes a range of classic Citroen design traits, including a new wide chrome-finished grille with integrated Citroen chevrons, LED daytime-running lights, and, at the rear, 3D-effect rear light clusters and chrome-finished dual tailpipes.
The concept sits on 17-inch alloy wheels shod in all-season tyres, while car's high ground clearance and body protection add to the utilitarian look. Red side graphics and wing mirror housings complete the exterior look.
Citroen has fitted the C-XR concept with Grip Control technology, which, combined with the all-season tyres, manages to provide "optimal" traction without the need for four-wheel drive which would increase CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
Under the bonnet,. The C-XR gets the firm's THP 160 1.6-litre petrol engine mated to an automatic gearbox.
