Caterham is flying the flag for Britain | Industry - Car News Apr 2015

In a boost for British exports, Sussex-based sportscar manufacturer Caterham Car has revealed last year was its most successful year to date.

At total of 345 Caterham’s were sold to overseas customers in 2014, a growth in exports of six per cent compared to 2013 and the best annual export figure in Caterham Cars’ 42-year-history.

Caterham have expended to include six new markets in the past year and now exports to 25 territories as worldwide interest in the iconic British sportscar continues to rise. The most successful overseas markets for Caterham in 2014 were France, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, and the USA.

Caterham’s coast-to-coast presence in North America was enhanced last year with the appointment of Superformance as the brand’s American distributor, and in the coming months Caterham plans to open more dealerships in South America.

In addition to UK’s motorsport heritage in the UK, Caterham boasts a hugely-popular domestic French racing championship with its iconic Seven model, and new championship series’ in Taiwan and Colombia have begun this year.

“Our recent foray into the world of Formula 1 has introduced Caterham to a raft of new global audiences who had never heard of us before,” said Graham MacDonald, Chief Executive of Caterham Cars.

“Now, thanks to that international exposure, the Seven is on sale in markets as far flung as China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Colombia.”
