This week’s Motorhome & Caravan Show at the Birmingham NEC will see Ssangyong preview a new camper version of its popular Turismo model.
Called the Ssangyong Turismo Tourist, the new model is based on the standard Turismo MPV whose 5 metre body and 3 metre wheelbase lends itself to the campervan layout. Priced from £29,995, the Turismo Tourist is powered by a 176bhp 2.2-litre diesel, and a choice of 6-Speed manual or 7-Speed Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission, and in a choice of two-wheel or four-wheel drive.
The Turismo Tourist Camper is designed and built in the UK, with Ssangyong enlisting the services of Huddersfield-based campervan experts Wellhouse Leisure. The model boasts a colour-matched elevating roof, driver and passenger swivel and folding seats which create twin beds with in-fill cushions and memory foam toppers, a rear tailgate awning, sliding glass top hob for indoor or outdoor use, small sink, gas bottle, 12v charging system, 25-litre compressor fridge, fresh and waste water containers, portable toilet, lightweight ply woodwork, while optional extras include Eberspacher heating, mains hook-up and a solar panel.
