Bugatti has revealed the new 'Black Bess' Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, the latest addition to the company's 'Legend Edition' series.
The new car is named after -- and inspired by -- the legendary Bugatti Type 18 model from 1913, which was nicknamed Black Bess because of its black paintwork. Like its great granddad, the Veyron also features a black paint scheme; however, Bugatti has also added a host of gold detailing.
And what with this being Bugatti and everything, they didn't settle for gold-coloured Hammerite. Oh no, the detailing you see on the Black Bess is pure, 24 carat, gen-yoo-wine gold.
As you can see, the front grille, the wheel caps and fuel filler cap are all coated in the stuff, while on the inside, the door cards and rear cabin section are detailed with sketches of the original Type 18 Black Bess, as well as drawings of Roland Garros' aeroplane -- a Morane-Saulnier Type H, no less. The rest of the interior is finished in cream leather, with yet more gold accents, while the car's red steering wheel is another nod to the Type 18.
Under the bonnet, it's business as usual, with an 8.0-litre W16 engine chucking out 1184bhp and 1106lb-ft of torque, which is enough to give a 0-62mph time of 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 254mph.
Black Bess joins the line-up of 'Legends Edition' models alongside the Jean Bugatti, Jean-Pierre Wimille, Meo Costantini and Rembrandt Bugatti editions.
Unfortunately, just three examples of the Black Bess will be built. And given that it's a limited edition Bugatti Veyron with 24-carat gold detailing, we're not expecting it to be cheap.
The Black Bess will go on show at the Beijing Motor Show next week.
