As I'm sure you know, the fastest production car in the world is the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport with a top speed of 268mph.
However, the Super Sport's record is under threat from -- you guessed it -- another Bugatti Veyron.
The boffins at Bugatti are reportedly working on a new Super Veyron with 1,600bhp to display at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Apart from being 400bhp more powerful than the Super Sport (pictured above), the Super Veyron should also be around 300kg lighter than its predecessor thanks to liberal use of carbon-fibre.
The improvements will certainly have a big impact on the Veyron's performance. The Super Veyron is rumoured to be able to hit 62mph in 1.6 seconds. That's about the same as a Formula One car.
On top of this, expect a top speed of 288mph, 20mph more than the current Super Sport.
There is no news on whether the Über-Veyron will ever make it into production; however, if it does, expect a price tag in the region of £1.5million.
