News just in, it is snowing in hell. BMW is launching a new 1 Series with front wheel drive.
The new 1 Series is part of a larger 1 Series range which BMW hopes will rival both the Audi A1 and A3 models. The new 1 Series will be available in both RWD and FWD forms with the FWD models sharing underpinnings with the MINI. While the front-drive 1 Series will be aimed squarely at the small car market, the rear-drive model will remain in the small hatchback market, alongside the Golf and Focus.
The new car is larger than its predecessor and should be more spacious inside given that the front-drive 1 Series will have no prop shaft to encroach on passenger space. Buyers will be offered a choice of petrol and diesel engines, including a new eco-friendly 1.5-litre unit capable of 150bhp and sub 100g/km emissions.
The new 1 series is released later this year.
