A new limited production run version of the BMW M5 has gone on sale priced at £100,995 on-the-road.
Just 200 worldwide examples of the BMW M5 Competition Edition will be made available, with the model boasting increased power and uprated chassis. As a result the 600bhp twin turbo V8-poweredM5 Competition Edition flies from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds. With a 7-speed DCT gearbox, Auto Start-Stop, and Brake Energy Regeneration, the fuel economy remains unchanged at 28.5mpg despite the increased performance, while CO2 emissions are 231g/km. Stiffer springs, electronically controlled dampers, thicker anti-roll bars, and Active M multi-place limited slip differential boost the handling credentials, while three Drive Control settings – Comfort, Sports, and Sport Plus – are available to select.
The BMW M5 Competition Edition is distinguished by the addition of carbon fibre BMW M Performance Parts, black kidney grille, and Jet Black 20-inch alloy wheels are painted Jet Black, while Mineral White and Carbon Black comprise the two external paint colour options. Inside the M5 Competition Edition is Black Merino leather upholstery with Opal White contrast stitching, and an engraved number identifying each model’s place in the limited production run. Standard features include Adaptive LED headlights, Reversing Assist camera, powered boot lid, Comfort Access, sun protection glass, front and rear heated seats, electric rear sunblind and Bang & Olufsen Advanced audio system.
