Official images showing the new BMW 2 Series have appeared on a blog site, showing the replacement for the 1 Series Coupe undisguised for the first time.
The pictures, which show the high-performance M235i variant, reveal that the new car will feature an M Sport body kit, larger alloy wheels and more aggressive styling. On the inside it's all typical BMW-fare, with the firm's signature three-spoke steering wheel and a dashboard angle towards the driver.
It's likely that the M235i will be powered by the same 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine from the M135i, but with a power boost from 306bhp to 322bhp. Leaked info suggests that 0-62mph will take just 4.8 seconds and a limited top speed of 155mph will be achievable.
More to the point, and given the increasing size of the BMW M3 over the years, there's a strong argument for the new M235i being the spiritual successor to that most legendary of performance saloons, the E30 M3.
The M235i is due out early next year, with prices expected to start from around £31,000.
