Volkswagen customers will now be able to enjoy even greater economy from the Passat range with the introduction of new ultra-efficient BlueMotion models to both the saloon and estate line ups.
The addition of BlueMotion technology to the VW Passat’s entry-level 1.6-litre TDI engine has seen fuel economy boosted to a combined 76.3mpg and CO2 emissions reduced to a tax-busting 95g/km. These developments have been achieved without negatively impacting performance, with the saloon going from 0-62mph in 10.8 seconds and an improved top speed of 130mph, while the estate version covers 0-62mph in 11 seconds flat with a top speed of 129mph, a slight improvement on the top speed of the standard 1.6TDI Passat estate. The 1.6-litre TDI BlueMotion models come with a six-speed manual gearbox.
The new BlueMotion models are based on the entry-level S trim level, boasting Post-Collision Braking, mis-fuel prevention system, Driver Alert, Stop/Start, battery regeneration, and VW’s 6.5-inch Composition Media infotainment system. The BlueMotion models benefit from their own 17-inch ‘Soho’ alloy wheels with low rolling resistance wheels, lowered sports suspension, unique front and rear bumpers, chrome grille highlights, and BlueMotion badging.
The new Passat BlueMotion models are available to order now from Volkswagen retailers across the UK, with prices starting from £23,200 for the saloon and £24,750 for the Estate.
