Plans for a Grand Prix through the streets of London will tonight be unveiled by Bernie Ecclestone.

The billionaire chief executive of F1 has reportedly offered to pay more than £35 million to stage a Grand Prix around some of London's most famous landmarks.

Ecclestone claims that a London race would be even more impressive than the Monaco Grand Prix, taking in such sights as Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus.

Although the event would cost millions to stage, it could generate more than £100m for the London economy.

The proposals will be presented tonight at the Royal Automobile Club on Pall Mall and will include a proposal of the race route alongside a CGI video of the circuit.
