Bucking the trend of a dismal 2020 for most, luxury car maker Bentley Motors achieved record annual sales figures.
The Crewe-based brand sold more cars in 2020 than in any year of its 101-year history.
With 11,206 cars sold, Bentley’s sales figures for last year topped 2019 by some two per cent, despite shutting down production for seven weeks from March and operating at half strength for a further three months after that.
Over a quarter of models produced were exported to the Americas, traditionally Bentley’s biggest export region, but the most spectacular rise in demand came from China. Demand for Bentley models in the Chinese market skyrocketed by almost fifty per cent, more than offsetting a twenty-two per cent slump in UK sales.
While the Bentley Continental GT and GT Convertible remained popular, it was the all-new Bentayga SUV that was the brand’s biggest-seller, account for over a third of total sales worldwide. An electrified version is due to be launched this year in the form of the Bentayga Hybrid.
