An all-new crossover-style version of the Kia Picanto has been announced by the manufacturer.
Called the Kia Picanto X-Line, the new model will go on sale later this year after making its first public appearance at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Picanto X-Line borrows styling cues from Kia’s larger crossover and SUV models, such as the Sportage and the Sorento. These include contrast colour packs, 15mm raised ground clearance, SUV-style bumpers with metal skid plates, and black cladded wheel arches.
It is the most powerful Picanto model to date, thanks to the inclusion of the three-cylinder 1.0-litre T-GDI engine previously used exclusively in larger Kia models. This 99bhp engine gives the Picanto X-Line a 0-62mph time of a fraction over ten seconds, and CO2 emissions of 104g/km.
Other features include 16-inch aluminium alloy wheels, aluminium pedals, LED daytime running lights and fog lamps, shark-fin antenna, keyless entry, 7.0-inch touchscreen housing navigation with 3D maps, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto for full smartphone integration. Also available is a rear-view parking camera, wireless smartphone charger, and a USB port.
Safety features include an Advanced High Strength Steel body construction and six standard airbags, with an optional knee airbag. The Vehicle Stability Management has Electronic Stability Control for stability under braking and cornering. The Picanto X-Line is also available with Autonomous Emergency Braking.
The Picanto X-Line will gone on sale in the last quarter of 2017 is backed by Kia’s 7-Year, 100,000 mile warranty. Pricing details to follow.
