Bentley Motors opened up the doors of its Crewe HQ today, rolling out the red carpet to welcome over one hundred Bentley Drivers Club (BDC) members and their cars.

This year the Bentley Drivers Club is celebrating its 75th anniversary, and it is marking the landmark date with a 'Britain by Bentley' tour which seeks to emulate the grand tour by driving across 3,000 miles of UK roads in a whole host of Bentley cars, which span 80 years of the firm's history.

Many of the drivers taking part in this event have travelled a long way to be part of the celebrations. Syd and Nikki Reinhardt, for example, have travelled all the way from Australia bringing their 1927 6.5-litre Mulsanne.

Drivers from the Britain By Bentley tour arrived at Crewe Hall on Monday evening, where they enjoyed a gala dinner alongside executive board members from the company itself. From there they moved down to the company's Pyms Lane site this morning, with an honorary police escort accompanying them. Here the BDC members were led through a tour of the factory, where new models such as the Continental GT and the Mulsanne are now being produced.

The visit was hosted by Richard Charlesworth, the Director of Royal and VIP Relations at Bentley, who commented that "No grand tour of Britain by Bentley would be complete without a visit to our headquarters here in Crewe".

"We are delighted to welcome so many members of the Bentley Drivers Club and their vehicles today. It is a unique and very special occasion to have so many rare and historic Bentleys gathered here in Crewe."

"Bentley and its drivers have always enjoyed a unique friendship which very few other motoring marques have been able to emulate.  We hope that our visitors will also enjoy the factory tour and the opportunity to see the next generation of our cars which will create a new and exciting chapter for Bentley.”

Meanwhile the Chair of the Bentley Drivers Club expressed the gratitude of the members who were present, saying "The Bentley Drivers Club was set up 75 years ago by Bentley owners who revelled in driving their cars.  We are proud to maintain that tradition today and have greatly enjoyed the warm welcome extended to us and the opportunity to see the Bentley factory flourishing."
