August was another good month for UK new car sales, with sales up by 10.9 per cent over the same month in 2012.
Although August is traditionally one of the worst months for new car sales, with many buyers holding off until September to benefit from the new plates, figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) found that 65,937 cars found homes last month, the highest number since 2007.
Mike Hawes, SMMT chief executive, said: "UK new car registrations have now risen consecutively for a year and a half. Private and fleet buyers are clearly capitalising on attractive deals and new technologies against a backdrop of increasing economic confidence."
The Ford Fiesta remains Britain's best-selling car, shifting 3,289 units last month and 75,418 since the beginning of 2013. Scroll down to see the UK's ten top-selling cars in August.
