An updated Audi A5 range will be introduced to the UK later this year.
Changes to the Audi A5 Sportback, Coupe, and Cabriolet include revised styling and new technology.
The front end styling is significantly different, with a wider, flatter, honeycomb grille, and a bold blade added to the lower edge of the front bumper which also has larger air inlets.
The 12-stong list of paint options now includes a new shade of district green metallic. LED headlights are now standard, with higher spec models gaining Matrix LED headlights with laser light, dynamic light sequencing, and dynamic front and rear indicators.
Inside, the large MMI touch display has angled slightly toward the driver, and offers a smartphone-style user experience which replaces the old rotary pushbutton system. The MMI navigation plus infotainment control centre incorporates new functions for ease of use, and Audi connect infotainment services are installed on an upgradable three-month subscription basis. The latter includes web-based features such as up-to-the-minute news, Google Earth mapping and Street View, and flight, weather, traffic and fuel pricing information. Audi connect plus adds online traffic sign and hazard information, and on-street parking search function. The all-digital Audi virtual cockpit plus allows the driver to operate the 12.3-inch display with full HD resolution using the multifunction steering wheel.
A range of Euro 6 emissions compliant engines will be available, as well as four mild-hybrid power options. The latter uses a belt alternator starter connected to the crankshaft, which recovers energy during deceleration to be stored in a compact lithium-ion battery. The start-stop range also now begins at speeds of 13mph and below, contributing to these savings, further aiding fuel consumption, while restarts are quicker and smoother. All A5 models are equipped with an automatic transmission, either a seven-speed S tronic or an eight-speed tiptronic, while the more powerful engines come with quattro drive as standard. A new 342bhp 3.0-litre V6 diesel has been added to the Sportback and Couple versions, propelling both from 0-62mph in under 5 seconds.
The A5’s suspension has been retuned, and a tauter sport suspension and controlled damping are also available depending on version.
First customer deliveries of the revised Audi A5 are expected to begin next spring.
