Aston Martin have launched a new Vantage GT8, priced from £165,000 and limited to a production run of just 150 examples.
Drawing heavy influence from the brand’s 2016 V8 Vantage GTE race car, deliveries of the new Aston Martin Vantage GT8 will start towards the end of this year. It will be the lightest and most power V8 to date, with a 440bhp 4.7-litre power plant and an extensive use of carbon fibre to produce its aerodynamically sculpted shell. Further weight is saved by the inclusion of a lithium ion battery and carbon fibre sports seats, and the option of carbon fibre roof, polycarbonate rear screen and side windows, and lightweight titanium centre mounted exhaust. An Aero Pack which adds large rear wing and front splitter corner elements can be added as an optional extra.
Distinguishing features include 5-spoke alloy wheels as standard, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, and three optional paint schemes in China Grey and Blue, Stratus White, or Sterling Green and Lime.
Announcing the new Aston Martin Vantage GT8, company CEO Dr Andy Palmer said, “Road cars are our business, but racing is the beating heart of Aston Martin. The Vantage GT8 expresses that combination perfectly: an authentic and unashamedly extreme road car that draws directly from our Le Mans racing programme to amplify the inherent dynamism that has long made the Vantage such a fine sports car. Beautifully engineered and set-up to be equally at home on a fabulous road or a demanding race track, the Vantage GT8 is a driver’s car in the truest sense of the word.”
