Volvo has this week expanded its already extensive SUV offerings with the launch of the new XC40.
The XC40 will be built at Volvo’s Ghent plant in Belgium, and will feature safety and driver-assistance systems such as Volvo Cars’ Pilot Assist, City Safety, Run-off Road Protection and Mitigation, Cross Traffic Alert with brake support, and a 360° camera.
Practicality is maximised by what Volvo describes as a radical new approach to interior storage. This includes improved functional storage space in the doors and under the seats, a special space for phones which includes inductive charging, a fold-out hook for small bags and a removable waste bin in the tunnel console.
The XC40 will be available with a D4 diesel or a T5 petrol four-cylinder Drive-E powertrain, with hybrid and pure electric versions to follow later.
It will also be the first model to be made available with Volvo’s innovative ‘Care by Volvo’ subscription service. A monthly flat-fee subscription does away with down payments, price negotiations and local price differences, and - depending on regional availability - also includes access to a range of digital concierge services such as fuelling, cleaning, service pick-up and e-commerce delivery to the car.
XC40 drivers will also be the first Volvo customers who can share their car with friends and family via Volvo on Call with a new digital key technology, a feature which comes as standard for Care by Volvo customers.
Customers in selected markets can order the new Volvo XC40 online now.
