An all-new electric vehicle from MG will go on UK sale next month.
The MG5 EV is powered by a 115kW electric motor, making it capable of 0-60mph in fraction over eight seconds, combined with a 52.2kWh Lithium-Ion battery pack that can be charged from zero to 80% in just 50 minutes using a rapid charger. The MG5 EV has a range of 214 miles in normal day-to-day use, and up to 276 miles for solely urban driving.
Prices for the MG5 EV start from just £24,495 after the Plug-In Car Grant, and it comes backed by MG’s 7-year/80,000-mile warranty.
With the water-cooled battery pack integrated into the car’s chassis, the body style in more akin to a traditional estate car. This includes a large boot, with 464 litre of luggage space rising to 578 litre once the load cover is retracted and 1,456 litres with the 60:40 folding rear seats folded down.
Features include an eight-inch colour touchscreen with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, six-speaker 3D audio system, DAB radio, 4 USB ports, electric windows all-round, air conditioning, regenerative braking, cruise control with speed limiter, auto-hold electric parking brake, rain-sensing wipers, push-button starter, and the the rotary gear selector which debuted on the ZS EV. Safety technology includes front, side and curtain airbags, electronic brake assist, ABS with EBD, twin ISOFIX points in the rear, a tyre pressure monitoring system, Hill Start Assist, and seatbelt warnings for front and rear passengers. The entry-level Excite trim comes with 16-inch alloys, a leather steering wheel, and three driving modes.
