The all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class has gone on sale priced from £25,800.
Three trims are available at launch - SE, Sport and AMG Line - with a choice of three engines, all of which come with a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
The entry-level A 180 d SE includes twin seven-inch displays with central touchscreen, MBUX multimedia system with ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice activation, comfort suspension, 16-inch alloy wheels, DAB radio, Artico leather and Bertrix fabric upholstery, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Speed Limit Assist, Keyless-Go starting function, and air conditioning.
Sport trim adds LED high performance headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, Artico and Fléron fabric upholstery, and automatic climate control, while AMG Line models gain 18-inch AMG alloy wheels, AMG bodystyling, Artico and Dinamica microfibre upholstery, and three-spoke sports steering wheel.
The 180 d uses a 116 bhp 1.5-litre diesel engine delivering up to 68.9 mpg combined, with a top speed of 125 mph and a 0 to 62 mph time of 10.5 seconds. A 200 models get the 164bhp 1.4-litre petrol, still capable of up to 51.4 mpg, while the A 250’s 224bhp 2.0-litre petrol unit can do 0 to 62 mph in just 62 seconds, and to a top speed of 155mph, while still returning 45.6 mpg combined.
Optional extras include The Executive equipment package, which for £1,395 upgrades the standard seven-inch central touchscreen media display to 10.25-inches as well as adding Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, heated front seats, and Mirror package. A £2,395 Premium equipment line package adds a 10.25-inch widescreen-effect cockpit display, 64-colour ambient lighting, illuminated door sills, Keyless-Go, upgraded sound system, and a rear armrest.
