Ford’s all-new Focus RS has proved to be a hit despite being yet to reach UK showrooms.
Over 500 UK buyers had already put down deposits to secure their all-new Focus RS by the time pricing and specifications for the model were confirmed at last month’s Frankfurt Motor Show, and since then another 1,000 orders have been taken by UK Ford retailers. Deliveries of the all-new 165mph Ford Focus RS are not due to start until Spring 2016, and the 1,500 order mark has been reached despite no examples having yet been made available for customers to test drive.
The all-new Focus RS’ 2.3-litre all-aluminium EcoBoost engine makes it the fastest accelerating RS to date, also featuring Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring and Launch Control giving the model a 0-62mph time of just 4.7 seconds. It also comes with 19-inch multispoke alloy wheels, 350mm ventilated disc brakes, performance rear spoiler, twin high-performance exhaust, Bi-Xenon headlamps, Recaro front seats, dual-zone electronic temperature control, heated windscreen and washer jets and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm system, and a choice of five paint finishes. Priced from £28,940 on-the-road, the all-new Focus RS also offers plenty of scope for personalisation.
Ford of Britain Managing Director and Chairman Andy Barratt said: “We expected those first in the queue, many of whom are owners of previous RS models, to be exacting about their requirements, and so it has proved, with many opting for motorsport-style Recaro shell front seats, 19in black forged alloy wheels, luxury pack, electric tilt/side sunroof and Ford SYNC2 navigation and sound system.”
