A revision of the TT formula will see five doors, a longer wheelbase and a more powerful engine.
The Audi TT Sportback will take inspiration from the current A5 and A7 Sportback models which already have five doors and offer the practicality of an executive class car alongside an edgy exterior appearance. 29cm has been added to the length of the wheelbase in order to make space for rear doors and a more spacious rear compartment.
“With the TT, Audi created one of the automotive design icons of the last 20 years,” says Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi Board Member for Technical Development.
“In the years since, we have designed our sporty and elegant five door Audi A5 Sportback and Audi A7 Sportback. In our Audi TT Sportback concept show car, we are now fusing both concepts to form a new member of a potential TT family.”
The new concept will provide 400PS and accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds; the power will flow through a seven speed S-tronic twin clutch transmission to the Quattro all wheel drive system. A 12.3 inch screen will replace the traditional gauges and will have touch screen and rotary button ability.
Loving attention has been paid to the characteristic front bumpers and grilles with the introduction of large, striking air inlets and brand new headlight design. The new features mark a monumental change in the story of the TT and look set to sex up the Audi executive range.
