Toyota Auris TR 1.33 VVT-i 5dr - March 2012
The Auris TR 1.33 VVT-i perfectly encapsulates the Toyota brand in one car. So it's reliable, cheap and practical but at the same time slow, dull and cheap-feeling.
Toyota Auris TR 1.4 D-4D 5dr - March 2012

Toyota Auris Overview

With the current model, there are three different levels of trim: the T2, T3 and T Spirit trims. There is also a high end T180 model available. There are many different economical engines to choose from as well as a Hybrid model.

The driving experience is not the greatest but the Auris’ safety record, reliability, high residual value, and inexpensive running costs definitely make the Auris worthy of consideration.

Background

The Toyota Auris was originally introduced in 2007 and has changed little since its launch.

One year after production in 2008, Toyota Optimal Driver engines were introduced with engines such as the 1NR-FE 1.33 Dual VVT-i engine which replaced the 1.4 VVT-I engine and became Toyota's first Stop & Start system sold in Europe.

In 2009 Toyota announced that a Hybrid version of the Auris would be put into production and a year later the first Hybrid Auris was up for sale, winning the “WhatGreenCar Car of the Year 2010” award.

The Auris has been designed to appeal specifically to the tastes of European drivers. The Toyota Auris provides plenty of cabin and passenger space and focuses on a comfortable driving experience.

Summary

The Toyota Auris does exactly what it says on the tin. It is an economical, sensible car which won’t let you down. Just don't expect it to make your hair stand on end either.
