Background

The Skoda Fabia is a small family car that was put into production in 1999 and has been produced in 2 generations.

The original Fabia, the Fabia Mk1, was produced from 1999 to 2007 and was originally available as a hatchback, a saloon or an estate. It was received well in the UK and was named the What Car? “Car of the Year” in 2000. In 2005 the Mk1  received a facelift resulting in a changed grille, different rear lights, revised specification levels and a new steering wheel. A sport model was also added.

The second generation model, the Mk2 was introduced in 2007, and drawing on inspiration from the Skoda Roomster, the Mk2 is larger than the Mk1. The Mk2 is the Skoda which was made famous in the UK by its advertising campaign which feature the Fabia being created in cake form.

The Mk2 Fabia was given a facelift in 2010 and the engine line-up was updated, offering much more economical engines.

Summary

The company's Fabia supermini is testimony to the company’s ability. The small Fabia provides good levels of reliability and a decent ride for a car of this size. The car enjoys a loyal following due largely to its practicality, decent driving experience, and affordable price.
