The Mii, like the VW up! and the Skoda Citigo, is a cracking little city car. Not only is it fun and easy to drive, but it is deceptively spacious and should prove to be very reliable. It's very basic on the inside, however, and if you like having a few creature comforts you'll be better off going for the more expensive SE trim.

PROS:  The Mii is cheap, spacious and good to drive.

CONS:  Almost nothing is included as standard and the Mii is only £150 cheaper than its more upmarket cousin, the VW up!

Behind the Wheel

The Mii is fitted with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine which develops 60bhp and 70lb-ft of torque. 0-62mph takes an extremely leisurely 14.4 seconds and flat out you'll manage 99mph. Realistically, you'll struggle with the Mii if you go on motorways and fast A roads regularly, and at any speed above 50mph, the little SEAT feels out of its depth.

However, all is not lost because the Mii is a hoot to drive around town. The steering is very light, but responsive, and the SEAT's excellent suspension irons out bumps and creases well.

Refinement is also very impressive considering the SEAT's tiny three-pot engine -- there is very little road and engine noise, and wind noise only becomes an issue when travelling at high speeds.

Looks & Equipment

The Mii is nowhere near as stylish as the VW up!, but it's a handsome little car nevertheless. It's the same story on the inside too, and the interior plastics just don't feel as luxurious as they do in the up!. Having said this, the whole car feels well screwed together and the cabin is nice and airy.

With this being the boggo-spec Mii, almost nothing is included as standard. You do get a CD player with MP3 connectivity included in the price but air-con will set you back £500, metallic paint £420 and stability control £200. Bluetooth and sat-nav are a joint option and will set you back £275.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

It's uncanny just how much interior space the Mii offers. The front of the cabin is spacious, and you'll easily be able to squeeze a couple of adults in the back. On top of this, you get a fairly decent 238-litres of boot space with the rear seats up, expanding to 951-litres with the rear seats folded flat.

The Mii is fitted with four airbags to protect you in the event of an accident, and ABS to help you avoid an accident in the first place. Stability control is only an optional extra on this model; however, you really shouldn't need stability control in a car with only 60bhp. The Mii was awarded the full five-star rating by the safety boffins at Euro NCAP.

Reliability should not be an issue, partly because there is very little on the Mii to go wrong and mainly because VW Group cars tend to be very reliable indeed. You get a 3 year/60,000 mile warranty included as standard too.

Value for Money

At £7,845, the Mii is very cheap; however, the almost-identical Skoda Citigo is even cheaper, costing around £200 less.

On the plus side, the Mii should cost peanuts to run, returning a combined 62.8mpg and emitting just 99g/km of CO2. Not only does this entitle the Mii to free road tax, but it also means you won't have to pay Mr Johnson a penny to travel into London.

The Mii is, however, very basic and you'll have to decide if you'd rather opt for one of the more expensive but better-equipped SE models.
